Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain"-2022 Haryana gives full support–  Sh. Manohar Lal

CHANDIGARH:Till March 1, 2022, the state of Haryana has completed renovation work of
89, 918 water bodies including 49, 136 construction/maintenance of woater conservation
RWH structures, 8623renovation of traditional water bodies, 25, 921 re-use and
construction/maintenance of recharge structure and 6238 water shed development works
as well as plantation of about 1.42 crore tress has been done. It is revealed in a letter
written to the government of Haryana by the union minister.
Besides the state has set up 22 jal shakti kendras. In view of rainy season ‘Jal Shakti
Abhiyan-Catch the Rain 2022’ campaign will be started this year in all districts of the
country.
Persistent efforts made by the State Government towards water conservation which
are in line with the visionary thinking of Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal have once
again been appreciated by the Central Government.
The Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Sh. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, while appreciating
the efforts and contribution of the State Government to Jal Shakti Abhiyan, under the able
leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that Haryana has taken various initiatives
for water conservation and management under this Campaign. He added that districts
Bhiwani, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Ambala and Kurukshetra deserve special appreciation for
the outstanding work done in this Campaign.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for writing a letter to
him in this regard and assured complete cooperation from Haryana for promoting "Jal
Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain"-2022 Campaign.
The focused work activities will include: intensive rainwater harvesting and water
conservation, including building roof-top Rain Water Harvesting Structures (RWHS) on
buildings and digging water harvesting pits on campuses.  Maintenance of existing RWHS
and construction of new check dams/ponds, renovation of traditional water harvesting
structures, removal of encroachments from ponds/lakes and their catchment channels,
siltation of tanks, reuse and recharge of borewells, watershed development, conservation of
minor rivers and rivulets, rejuvenation of wetlands and flood-bank protection, development
of springs will be done.
Besides this, protection of water catchment areas, geo-tagging and cataloging of all
water bodies will be done and based on these, scientific plans will be formulated for water
conservation. Also, setting up of Jal Shakti Kendras in all districts, intensive afforestation and
bringing public awareness are also included in this Campaign.
